First Place- $1,000 Second Place- $500 Third Place- $250 Contest Topic: How have lawsuits adversely impacted a local community service organization in San Diego County? Entries must be postmarked or e-mailed no later than Monday, March 31, 2008 CONTEST RULES Open to San Diego County High School Juniors and Seniors. Need not be college bound to enter. Entries MUST address civil litigation, not criminal matters. Please include the following in your entry: -Find a real life example that illustrates how litigation or even the fear of litigation adversely impacts the services a San Diego County community service organization provides. -If the service organization has volunteers, has litigation or the fear of litigation discouraged people from volunteering? -What steps or precautions does the service organization take to protect itself from litigation? -Give two or three examples of how lawsuits affect service organizations and in return how this affects the local community. Entry “Mechanics”: Entries are welcome in a variety of formats- choose which format best suits you and your submission. Material will be judged on content, merit and thoroughness and not on length. Below is a sample of some of the formats that can be used. -Short Film or Video Documentary (suggested 3-5 minutes) -PowerPoint (25-30 slides) -Newsletter or News Magazine Article (4 pages, 8.5X11) -Advertising Campaign -News Report (Radio or TV, 3-5 min.) -Essay (must include bibliography) How to Submit: -You may submit your entry either by email (
